VenueThe Institut Henri PoincaréFounded and built in 1928 thanks to private patrons within the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Paris as a "centre for teaching and scientific research on mathematical and theoretical physics and related sciences, such as probability calculus", the Institut Henri Poincaré is the historical home of mathematics and theoretical physics in France. Between the wars, the IHP welcomed the world's greatest specialists and published the texts of their conferences in its journal, the Annals of the Institut Henri Poincaré. It also hosted the first computing laboratories, whose machines were unfortunately lost during the Second World War. The new IHP was officially inaugurated in 1994, after restructuring the building. The national dimension of IHP is recognised by its status as a joint service / support and research unit with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique since 1995. IHP has been promoting and hosting scientific interactions at the highest international level for almost a century. More recently, the institute has engaged in outreach activities and the popularisation of mathematics. IHP is endowed with a precious library, which preserves, develops and makes available to the institute’s visitors large collections in mathematics, theoretical physics and history and philosophy of science. Finally, IHP is a welcoming home for the national community of mathematicians and physicists, who often drop by for a seminar or a meeting. Coming to IHPClose to the Panthéon and the Jardin du Luxembourg, the IHP is ideally located in the heart of the 5th arrondissement of Paris.
